RE: Softail Deluxe

kpapa ,that is interesting and must have been a great adventure with the Coast Guard. They are not all that hard on bikers or street rodders here (my former hobby)as long as they dont abuse their priviledges. Our big day here as I mentioned before is Fri 13th and no bike checks are ever done although a few years ago they stopped the bikes coming into town checking for alcahol/drugs but couldnt handle the volume so ended that practice quickly.(good thing it was on the way into town not on the way out lol) No name for the bike yet ? Picking the softail up in Chicogo on the 9th of July. OB

RE: Softail Deluxe

kpapa, Helmets are mandatory in Ont although a skull cap may get you by depending on the cop. (NO HELMET will get you a fine everytime)They had a blitz here in our small town lately because some locals bikers were blasting up main st, vibrating windows and making the locals upset. They dont usually bother sensisble drivers even if their bikes dont meet the noise requirements. Not sure if you have heard of our town in Ont, its called "PORT DOVER" and we just broke the world record (soon to be documented by Guiness) for the most bikers to assemble at a bike rally in a single day in the world. (over 12000) This event takes place every Fri 13th only one this year but 3 next year. We just had one on the 13 th of June with over 150,000 people jammed in a town of 6000 people, just unbelievable!!! Having said that you just cant live here without owning a bike and back on the road after a 20 year absence and enjoying every min, cheers

RE: Softail Deluxe

kpapa, its black in color, and always needs cleaning i know, didnt have a choice but got a great deal and wanted a Harley no matter what color, although the whitewalls sure stand out on the black background (Im Happy). The 1600 Vulcan I have now has the gearing right, never looking for that higher gear and lots of torque at bottom end. The Harley dealer says the riders have to make a attitude adjustment and all will be well re the 6 speed.

RE: 2002 flstc carb problem?

A compression test would indicate if there was any blow by. If the blow by is caused by oil ring failure it would be using oil, if on the other hand the compression rings are failing ,it would show up as "low" compression, such a simple test that may eliminate an expensive rebuild, hope this helps, Ontario Biker

RE: Softail Deluxe

Thanks for your reply, Guess I wont be using 6th gear much as I am in a rural area w/50 mile speed limits, 60 maybe 70 will put me in the slammer. Picking up the Deluxe on the 7th of July and the Vulcan 1600 I am driving will be going to a new home. Thanks again, Ontario Biker
